Sydney’s newest cycling hub – benefiting the environment and community

January 28, 2010

When night turns to day.. a busy nightspot, common for alcohol fuelled revelry and violence has been forced to close and in its vacant state taken over the the Sydney City Council and is to be turned into a cycling hub.

The area is to have lock-ups, showering facilities, bike hire, it will over cycling tours and have a bike shop and repair service.

It sounds a bit like what Adelaide City Council and BicycleSA have been polling cyclists about for Vic Sq in Adelaide.

The hope is that by changing the reputation of the former pub the area will attract the community back to it.

Does Adelaide Council have $5.5mil to spend on buying a site like this? Who knows but a cycling led recovery of a city precinct is a good thing.
